Application Process

OUR APPLICATION IS OPEN. 

Our Process

  • Step 1

    Once the application process has been opened you can pickup an application at our office during regular business hours.

  • Step 2

    We will be holding two in-person applicant meetings. We will also have zoom calls for those that want to avoid in person meetings. Sessions are in place to answer any questions you may have about the process, requirements, and timeline. You do not have to attend a session in order to complete an application.

  • Step 3

    We will have three dates available for you to make an in-person appointment to answer any further questions you may have or help you fill out your application if you need assistance.

  • Step 4

    Turn in your complete application at our office.

  • Step 5

    Our family selection committee reviews all applications. The process may take up to two months, and we may ask you for additional information.

  • Step 6

    If the selection committee determines that you do not qualify based on financial qualifications given you will be notified by mail.

  • Step 7

    If you meet our financial qualifications, we’ll schedule a home visit with you and all your household members. At least two Habitat representatives will interview you, view your current housing conditions, meet your family, and discuss any additional questions.

  • Step 8

    Our selection committee will review all applications and home visit information and make a decision based on who qualifies and has the highest need. They will then present this information to the board of directors for approval. All staff members recuse themselves from making homeowner selections.

  • Step 9

    You will be notified by mail of the selection committee's decision no later than 30 days after the board of directors approval. In the event that you are denied, you can request more information from the selection committee via mail. Staff will not have access to why a potential applicant was denied. If you are not selected, you may apply again during the next selection cycle. There is no limit to the number of times you may apply.

  • Step 10

    If selected, we schedule for you to come in and sign a partnership agreement that details our expectations and the process. This is a time for you to ask any questions and voice concerns. We are here to help make this a good experience and we want to help in any way we can.
